The backbone of the Real Food Education Program is the old adage: "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime."
Transforming the way children eat and perceive food is no small feat. This change cannot be accomplished through serving up all-natural foods alone; there needs to be a shift in perception - a new understanding of our health in relation to our bodies, the food we eat, and our environment. This shift will only come through education. That's why RFRK strives to be more than just a provider of healthy all-natural food. Some call us edu-caterers.
During the past four years The Real Food Education Program has reached over 10,000 people in the GTA!
The non-profit Real Food Education Program is distinct from our catering service in terms of funding and management, but it plays a huge part in how RFRK works towards its mission to change the way children eat and perceive food.
Lulu Cohen Farnell and Hope Paterson created the Real Food Education Program early on to channel energy and resources towards fueling this movement for change. The goal of our program is to empower parents, caregivers, teachers and kids with the tools and knowledge to reverse the trend of the "fast food nation" in which we live, and to carry the real food philosophy forward, becoming active and responsible participants in the larger life cycle of food.

We believe that engaging children and adults with real food and its origins helps them to understand the benefits to their bodies and their world.
